Some fun facts about St. Patrick’s Day:

The first St. Patrick’s Day parade was held in the United States on March 17, 1601.
Corned beef and cabbage is an American innovation. Ham and cabbage was eaten in Ireland.
It is believed that St. Patrick got rid of all the snakes in Ireland.
Blue was the color most associated with Patrick, green was considered unlucky. Green had been the color linked to a series of Irish rebellions to gain independence from the English crown. The color green stuck once Irish immigrants made their home in America wearing green and carrying the Irish flag to show pride for their home country.
